Snack Machine Farewell (For Now)
The Snack Machine did indeed make it to Bend. However, our garage space is limited, so Jeff's truck won the war on space. A few weeks ago we decided to have a grand farewell party for the Snack Machine, then disassemble it for the winter.
Invitations were made by the kids, and neighbor friend Caitlin, hand delivered to 60 homes (!!), a run to Costco was made for human and dog snacks, and the party was on.

Ribs. Pork. Ribs.
Sometime in the late hours of Friday, extending into the wee morning hours of Sunday, 9/11, a new chorus was heard - "Ribs. Pork. Ribs." Croaked into the starry night, our neighbors were tempted (or irritated - it could go either way) with the sounds and smells of Eric's famous birthday ribs. Good thing Jeff was here to share them or it would have been a lonely lonely meal.
3 half-racks of ribs were cooked. 2 were eaten Sat night/Sunday (that's half a pig each, boys). Pork-tastic.

Coyoto Club Reunion - Summer Edition Day 2
Another day brought more sun and fun! Once again, Elk Lake was our destination. It's becoming a favorite place to bring guests and after discovering rental pontoon boats available, it has climbed to new heights in our opinion of Best Place Ever.
For our rowdy crowd of 12 (maximum pontoon boat capacity: 13), we also included 2 paddle boards and 2 air mattresses of suspect sea-worthiness, some rope (more on that later) and a wonderful spread of food and beverages.
I must say it again, we had a blast! Perhaps it was the sunny weather, good "old" friends reunited, or just the continued magic of Elk Lake, but once again we found ourselves saying, "That was an epic day." (Not to be confused with THE Epic Day in July, as that truly was the best of all Epic Days, thus the capital letters.)

Coyoto (Ki-O-Toe) Club Reunion - Summer Edition Day 1
Ah, summer.
Well, not really, as school has started for all youngsters involved and the temps were nicely settled into the high 80s and low 90s, but it sure felt like it!
We ended up biting the bullet and buying a new battery charger for the camera in time for a herd of guests. Heidi flew in from a business trip to Portland, Krista/Anders flew down from Seattle and The Wearners piled into the Wearnermobile and drove in...with only the young lovebirds being wise enough to escape the noise and chaos of our house for the privacy of a hotel.
And for those of you reading this who may be completely baffled by the title, it's the name of a super secret club that Heidi, Lisa, Krista and I founded as kids with one of the main missions being the capture of a Coyote and lucrative sale of its pelt. There was a pit trap involved. It did not catch a coyote but did catch a dad.
On to the fun stuff, though...
Heidi and Wearners arrived Thurs night. Friday after school we headed down to the river
